Recommended by the Iyengar Yoga national Association of the US, this program is intended for current and aspiring Iyengar yoga teachers, and for serious students seeking to deepen and progress in their practice.

Each weekend includes asana and pranayama practice, yoga philosophy and sutra study, and the teaching format and principles of B.K.S. Iyengar: Demonstration, Instruction, Observation, and Correction. We will also cover concepts of sequencing, linking, timing, class organization, adjustments, use of props, modifications for everyday problems, and Sanskrit studies. Preparation for assessment in the Iyengar method is also a focus of each weekend.

Schedule and Locations Each Weekend: Friday and Saturday sessions are held at Blue Spruce Yoga at Lakewood United Church of Christ, 100 Carr Street, Lakewood, CO. Sunday sessions are held at Iyengar Yoga Center Denver, 770 S. Broadway, Denver, CO.

Friday Nights
5:30 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.  Practice and Peer Teaching

Saturday Session 1
8:00 A.M. – 12:30 P.M.  Practice, Teaching Skills and Peer Teaching. There will be a short break between the practice and Teaching skills with juice, fruit and nuts provided by Blue Spruce Yoga.

Saturday Session 2
2:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M.  Restoratives, Philosophy, Sanskrit, Pranayama.

Sunday Session 1
8:30 A.M. – 11:30 A.M. Modifications for Everyday Problems or Special Topics.

Sunday Session 2
12:30 P.M. – 3:00 P.M.  Anatomy and Asana or Special Topics.

Requirements: 2 years Iyengar experience. Participation in a weekly Iyengar yoga class with an instructor of your choice, and assisting in an Iyengar class, if available in your area.

Cost: Entire program if paid in full by January 6, 2014: $1295. 
After January 6 the cost for the program increases to $1500. 
Individual Weekends: $275.00 for 15.5 hours of class time.
Individual Sessions: $18 per hour and permission of instructors.

 

Ongoing Teacher's Class at IYCD: Thursdays 10:30am-12:30pm.   Practice your teaching skills with your peers.
